This piece is originally composed for mixed choir in 2017 and made into SA and Piano arrangement in 2022. The title Cahaya Purnama means moonlight, taken from the name of the 15th governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaya Purnama (read: Basuki Cahaya Purnama) who has inspired Cherly at the time she wrote this piece because he has made a lot of good changes toward Jakarta, Indonesia, where the composer has grown up. This song is Cherly’s attempt to write a pop choral music. It is also an encouragement for her friends who were not able to rehearse with the choir due to the pandemic. (Jakarta, January 24th, 2021)

Cherly wrote this song on the 100th day of 2020, and it was the 27th day of social distancing, which was done due to the government’s regulation in regards of global pandemic situation. The text itself was inspired by her longing of family and friends, with a hope that we can finally meet again after the pandemic is over.
